Streaming Royalties Explained.
What are Streaming Royalties?
Streaming royalties are fees paid out every time a master track streams (plays) on services like Spotify and Apple Music etc. These fee’s get paid out to the rights holder of the track like artists, songwriters and potentially you.
What is a Master Track?
Master tracks are the original recording of a song. For example, the original recording of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody is a master track. If Queen decided to record a piano version of Bohemian Rhapsody that recording would become a different master track. Now there would be two different master tracks of the same song. In the same way if the artist recorded a different version of the song you supported you would not get royalties of the newly recorded song.
How will I receive Royaltyies?
Once the artist releases their song Crowdsrfr will handle it's distribution, meaning putting it on Spotify and Apple Music etc. As we upload the song we will also enter the producer credits and percentage of royalty pay outs. You will receive an email from our distributor, Too Lost, and enter in all your information. Once that happens watch the royalties come in.
The Most Important Thing.
FANS DO NOT HAVE OWNERSHIP, EQUITY OR RIGHTS IN THE MASTER TRACK (song), only the streaming royalties (Spotify plays etc) of the master track. For example, if an artist gets the song you supported in Stranger Things you would not received any payments from Stranger Things. The only payouts you receive is when the song streams on music streaming services. Don’t worry, if a song gets in a movie, it will probably get a bump on streaming services.
